Joseph Straus, PH.D./D.M.A will be speaking about “Listening to Modern Music”.

Many people find modern classical music harsh, dissonant, hard to listen to, and harder to love. We’ll listen together to music by Stravinsky, Bartok, Ades, Saariaho, and others, and learn to enjoy its many pleasures and rewards. Joseph Straus is a music theorist specializing in the twentieth century, with research interests that include set theory and voice-leading in post-tonal music. He has authored or edited numerous books and articles on modern music, especially the music of Stravinsky.

OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY at the Jewish Center of Princeton (435 Nassau St.).
Non-member entrance fee: $5. Dessert will be served.
