TWO-SESSION MINI-SERIES
TUESDAYS, FEBRUARY 25TH AND MARCH 3RD AT 7:30 PM

It’s hard to be a prophet! The Book of Jeremiah gives biographical information about him, more than about any other Biblical prophet except Moses. So in addition to studying his messages and the often theatrical ways in which he delivered them, we are able to appreciate Jeremiah the human person who was very uncomfortable at what he became. He emerges as a tragic figure.

We’ll look at Jeremiah’s prophecy and his life, place him in historical context, and take an excursus into the nature of biblical prophecy in 2 two-hour sessions. We’ll use mainly English text, looking at Hebrew as well. It will help if you can bring your own Tanakh.

Rabbi/Cantor Bob Freedman was the cantor of the Jewish Center from 1982 until 1996, when he resigned to study for the rabbinate. After ordination he served congregations in Vermont and Philadelphia. In 2013 he joined the chaplaincy staff of the Medical Center of Princeton, where he is the rabbi for the hospital and the hospice program. Rabbi Freedman and his wife Sally enjoy living a short walk from the center of Princeton.
